- Good solvent (Anything that can form ions are attached to dipoles)
- High specific heat capacity (more bonds to break)
- Solid is less dense than the liquid (more bonds but start to repel)
- Surface tension (due to cohesion between molecules)
- Cohesion (cling through H-bonding)
- High latent heat of evaporation (e.g sweat)
H-Bonds:
- Occur in certain covalently bonded molecules (NOF)
- Shared electrons are not distributed evenly between the atoms
- E.g the oxygen atom of a water molecule has a bigger share of the electrons and is therefore slightly negative.
